Pride In Football
Ongoing project celebrating the UK based ‘Pride In Football’ network of LGBTQ+ football supporters groups.
‘Pride In Football’ is a growing network of football supporters groups for LGBTQ+ fans in the UK. Groups such as Arsenal Gaygooners, Marching Out Together (Leeds United), and the Rainb0s (Leyton Orient) are some examples of the many groups offering LGBTQ+ fans a safer space to support their teams at UK football games. The groups attend their respective team’s fixtures with pride banners and flags, alongside a host of other activities promoting inclusion in football, such as charity football games, outreach events and socials.
This project celebrates these groups who are bravely championing LGBTQ+ representation in football whilst demonstrating that football can be more inclusive. Showing this work as widely as possible will help bring more people to the idea that LGBTQ+ people are welcome and safe at football.
All football supporters can fully express their identity through following their teams. With the inclusive space these LGBTQ+ fan groups provide, supporters of any sexuality or gender can also celebrate their full identity, loud and proud.
